Our heritage and milestones.

Holiferm was born in the northwest of England – the industrial revolution is in our DNA.

We’ve come a long way from a university lab bench in 2018. With the spirit of Liver birds and Manchester bees, we are part of a new kind of industrial revolution, one that is centred on people and planet. We are proud to be a part of restoring the manufacturing industry in the UK.

Holiferm spun out from University of Manchester

May 2019

Seed round led by ICOS Capital enabling construction of a new R&D lab and pilot plant.

April 2021

The pilot plant begins operation and completes its first 600L bioreactor run

November 2021

Series A funding led by Rhapsody Venture Partners and Clean Growth Fund

March 2022

Construction of commercial plant begins

February 2023

Commercial plant officially opens
