Meet The Team – Tsz Nok Lam

Next up on our meet the team series is our newest laboratory technician  Tsz Nok Lam. Nok comes to us from Hong Kong, where he did his degree in food and nutritional science. After his degree he spent two and a half years working for Radio Television Hong Kong where he researched and validated scientific facts for the broadcasting company as well as helping to coordinate guests and hosts for production schedules. He also worked as a research assistant at the City university of Hong Kong, helping to run fermentations developing a new protocol for obtaining dry weight cells, as well as managing the purchases and other administrative tasks that are needed for the day to day running of a lab. He has already proven to be well suited to help us continue innovating at our Manchester based laboratory and has quickly settled into the team.

What is your current role at Holiferm?

Laboratory technician (and the first aider of the company)

Favourite quote?

“Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”

Some old-timer (And the fact that Confucius never said it but people keep misattributing him)

What are your favourite things to do to relax?

Cooking good food, self-studying physics online (yes I am not kidding), watching Netflix … but now it’s summer so I’d also say going for a hike or swim at a beach is also awesome!

What is something you picked up during lockdown?

Home and street workout!

Favourite trip/holiday?

Greece! I can never forget the sapphire blue Mediterranean Sea where sunshine passed through it like passing through a giant piece of crystal. Also like to stay in quiet villages where you can get close to the nature and meet very friendly people – will definitely do that again after the lockdown.

Any pets?

No :(

Why did you want to work for Holiferm?

Because Holiferm is a company with great potential to grow and I wanted to do something that I am good at but also good for the planet Earth.

What are your values, what do you think drives you?

Not regretting every day you have lived. I would say a good day is when you get along well with the people around you, learn new things that excites you, feel that you are a better person than yesterday and be satisfied and grateful for what you have got for the day.

How would you described your character in 3 words?

Friendly, detail-minded, honest

Favourite meal?

Vegetarian carbonara (I have been a vegetarian for almost 5 years), egg fried rice and steamed dumplings :P
