Meet The Team – Dave Atherton

Holiferm is pleased to introduce another new starter in our continuation of our meet the Team series. Dave has joined Holiferm as our QC and downstream scientist, he will help us to deliver the highest quality of bio-surfactant products consistently. He has had 15 years of experience as a QC scientist and 2 as a QA manager with a broad experience of different characterisation techniques and products, from cakes and jam to Lubricant oil and water based Hydraulic fluid for oil rigs.

What are your favourite things to do to relax?

  • Lego, this is always stress free hobby. My house is just getting full of it.
  • XBOX on chat with my friends, we live and work all over so it get time to sit and play together
  • Reading, my kindle follows me everywhere, or comics when I get the chance.

what is something you picked up during lockdown?

I didn’t pick anything new up during lockdown but I did spend over 150 hours on Animal Crossing: new horizons and also spent a lot time on Mario kart getting gold on all the cups.

...So maybe I picked up the switch during lockdown.

Favourite trip/holiday?

I went to Kenya with college when I was 17. It was something I knew I would only get the chance to do once. Seeing animals in the natural environment was such a different experience to anything I had experienced before or since.

Any pets?

Yes, Esme or her full name Esmeralda floofle pants Weatherwax. But I just call her Esme. She Is also a cat, I rehomed her when she was 11 months old.

Why did you want to work for Holiferm?

Companies like Holiferm don’t come along very often. I could tell there was something very different about Holiferm from when I first met Ben & Richard. What they want to achieve makes me feel I wanted to make it happen. The work atmosphere and ethos shows. When companies like Holiferm do come along, it makes you want to be there every step of the way.

Dependable , curious, logical
